SIX people including school pupils are critically injured after a car ploughed into them as they walked on Ben Bella Road in Lusaka’s Chibolya Compound this morning.
Witnesses say a speeding driver of a black Subaru lost control and hit several people before he alighted the car and attempted to flee the scene.
Photos from the accident scene published by The Mole, show motionless victims including uniformed male pupils with school bags on their backs lying on the ground.
According to those who witnessed the incident, the driver was apprehended by a mob that also beat him up before surrendering him to the police.
Judging by the uniforms of affected pupils who have now been taken to hospital, they could be learners from Kamwala Secondary School.
Police are yet to give an official statement on the matter.
