BARELY a week after snatching Kabwe Warriors coach George Lwandamina from Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, Zesco United have left Tanzania National Soccer team without a coach after announcing Honour Janza as technical director.

According to Desmond Katongo, the Zesco United media officer, Janza has already put ink to paper on a three-year contract with the eight-time Zambian league champions.

Announcing the appointment, club chairman Maxwell Saya said: “Janza is a highly qualified manager who has worked at the highest level of African football and comes with great credentials. We are positive his vast experience in the game will enhance football development at different levels of the club,” Saya said.

Janza was the last coach to qualify the Zambia National Team for the 2015 Equatorial Guinea Africa Cup of Nations, a feat that has eluded the country for the past three editions.

He also served as head coach of Tanzanian Premier League side Namungo FC from 2021 until his appointment as that country’s interim National team coach.

Janza has been a technical director at NAPSA Stars and coach of Red Arrows Football Club.

Janza also coached Zesco United from 1999 to 2004, guiding the Ndola side into the Super League for the first time.
