A LUSAKA man aged 27, has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for defiling two girls, aged seven and eight, on the same day.
Portifer Mwalanda will be 87 years old before coming out of jail or even have an ounce of thought to dare his brain to think of using his sunda instrument to harm a child again.
According to Zambia Daily Mail, the sentence was delivered during a mobile court session held inside Mwembeshi Remand Correctional Facility on Wednesday.
Mwalanda’s who happens to be a father and husband was condemned for his actions
“These offences are unbecoming in our society, we are at loss to provide a remedy to this problem, especially that some of the convicts like yourself are family men with children and a wife,” stated the court.
Mwalanda, dressed in blue, was immediately led back to his jail cell after the pronouncement of his sentence.
The mobile court session at Mwembeshi Remand Correctional Facility is part of the government’s initiative to enhance access to justice.
The mobile court system, launched in February this year, involves magistrates or judges conducting court proceedings and determining non-contentious cases directly within correctional facilities.
