IMMIGRATION officers in Northern Province’s Mungwi District have separated a cop from his red veranda and counterfeit Kamwala-ish gum boots after discovering that he had turned his house into a safe haven for 13 illegal immigrants from Ethiopia.

Instead of enforcing the laws of Zambia like a proper uniformed officer paid by taxpayers money to arrest criminals, the now missing cop was allegedly busy running a full time refugee camp right under the noses of his colleagues by hosting fugitives from other countries.
According to Immigration Department public relations officer Namati Nshika, the cop was not at home when the immigration department raided his house and was probably tipped off by neighbours that his guests were arrested.
Meanwhile, Nshika said immigration officers also rounded up 241 suspects who had illegally tiptoed their way into the country, with many found mining gold in Kasempa’s Kikonge area.
He said the suspects were nabbed in various operations, between June 6 and 8, 2025.
