A LUSAKA man has bought a one way ticket straight to the land of his forefathers after thinking he had killed his girlfriend whom he had allegedly shot on Tuesday.
Jeff Mulenga, a man between the ages 25 and 30 was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, in a pool of his blood.
The girlfriend, 23-year-old Bwalya, is reported to be in stable condition after being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 22:00 hours in Chalala
“At around 23:30 hours, Police received a report that the suspect had shot himself in State Lodge area,” police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said.
“Police officers rushed to the scene where they found Jeff Mulenga aged between 25 and 30 laying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound on the chest. Car keys believed to be for his motor vehicle and a pistol were found at the scene while the motor vehicle, a Mazda BT 50 was found parked outside the gate of one of the houses within the area.”
Mulenga was pronounced dead at the University Teaching Hospital.
Mwale said the Police have impounded the vehicle and are investigating the cause of the shooting.
