A TEACHER of Samfya District has been relieved from preparing lesson plans and breaking chalk after he was arrested by Police for forcing himself on a 15-year-old grade 11 pupil.
The 34 year old teacher only identified as Sinyangwe, had canal knowledge of a named pupil on April 18, 2024 around 16:30 hours.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale confirmed the matter in a statement.
“Brief facts surrounding the matter are that Mr. Sinyangwe, while acting as School Head Teacher, called the pupil to his office and instructed her to go and clean the Head teacher’s house who was out of town,” Mwale said
He said the pupil rushed to the house while Sinyangwe remained in his office.
However, the suspect later followed the pupil to the house where he found her sweeping in the living room.
“While inside the house, Mr. Sinyangwe is alleged to have pushed the pupil onto the sofa and forcibly had canal knowledge of her,” Mwale added.
After the act, the suspect warned the victim not to tell anyone or she would be expelled from school.
Mwale said the victim revealed the incident to her aunty the following day and immediately the matter was reported to Police.
“The victim was issued with a medical report form in order for her to seek medical attention and the medical findings came out positive as alleged,” he added.
“Police picked the suspect from the same school today around 10:30 hours and detained him in custody waiting to be formally charged.”
