The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has dismissed assertions that the law enforcement agency is investigating South African businessman, James Ndambo.
On Friday, July 8, the commission seized high valued vehicles including a Lexus, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Range Rover, two Toyota Land cruisers and a Toyota Hiace which caused a social media frenzy.
Some sections of the Media purported that the seized vehicles belonged to Ndambo and the “My Home Town” Beauty Pageant prizes given to the two winners of the contest held in Choma ten days ago.
However, DEC Director General Mary Chirwa says the seized properties were neither in Ndambo’s names nor belonged to ‘My Home Town’ competition.
“So far, the Commission has established the names in which these motor vehicles are registered of which one is a company and Ndambo is not a Director or Shareholder.”
“None of the motor vehicles is registered in the names of James Ndambo or “My Home Town” as alleged by social media,” Chirwa revealed.
Chirwa however noted that if Ndambo claims that the said motor vehicles are his, the commission will still record the necessary statements for them to conclude the matter professionally.
She emphasized that the law is blind to colour, race and status stating that DEC’s work is driven by the intelligence information received with no malice at all.
Chirwa assured the general public that DEC is not playing politics but merely executing it’s mandate professionally without fear or favour.
