A SPARK of hope over the condition of Zambian football legend, Rainford Kalaba’s health condition has increased to a full flame as the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) reveals that he is able to talk.

Kalaba, the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) champion has been battling grave injuries after a road accident last Saturday which claimed the life of the driver he was with.

UTH Public Relations Officer Nzeba Chanda said the 37 year old has achieved a significant milestone in his recovery journey.

Chanda said Kalaba reached a pivotal moment as he took his first meal since his admission to the hospital, signifying a positive stride in becoming better.

She added that Kalaba is conscious and able to talk, marking a remarkable turnaround from his previous state.

“Mr. Kalaba’s condition has greatly improved and is stable. He took his first meal today, his fully conscious and able to talk,” revealed Chanda.

Chanda said the medical team overseeing Kalaba’s care continue to provide close monitoring and support to ensure his continued progress.
