PF MPs walk out of parley after Mutti refuses to announce Miles as leader of opposition

PF Members of Parliament yesterday took a walk of shame out of parley, after speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti refused to announce invisible WiFi ambassador and Matero MP Miles Sampa as the leader of opposition in parliament.

This happened after Nakonde Member of Parliament Luka Simumba tried to fume at the speaker for not introducing Sampa as a leader chosen by the Given Lubinda faction party.

Simumba claimed that PF members of the house could not coordinate with government because the speaker had imposed a different leader of opposition on them.

“The PF changed the leader of opposition and you have never announced the new leader and the people out there have been wondering as to why you don’t announce the new leader. What’s the problem when us we have chosen our leader who should be the leader of opposition and you are denying to announce. Why haven’t you announced the new leader of opposition which us we have chosen,” said the MP from the land of salaula clothes.

However, Mutti expressed disappointment at the reasoning of the MP and wondered why he seemed incognizant of the standing orders of the house despite being lawmaker.

The speaker added that she could not announce the leader of opposition because the matter was still in court.

“We have been in this house for four years now, going into the fifth year. I expect you to be familiar with the standing orders. I’m sure you don’t want to be visited by some sanctions.”

“Honourable member for Nakonde, you are not a stranger of this house and you have been here for four years and you know that your party is in court at the moment. You are in court over the same issues that you want us to make a ruling or an announcement on. So please ,can you resolve those issues at court,” she said.

She further charged that the law makers were exhibiting disorderly conduct the same way they were serving themselves disorder IK their party.

“I’m sure the same way that you are exihibiting disorderly conduct is the same way that you are exhibiting disorderly conduct in your party. Put your house in order,” said Mutti.

It was at this point that the MPs felt disrespected and walked out of the house and Mutti ordered for their quick exit.

“Please can you exit quickly, we want to get to business, can we exit quickly and maintain order,” she stated.
