A 17-year-old male juvenile of Lusaka’s George compound has been arrested in connection to a murder case that happened within Matero Constituency five days ago.
Police investigations have uncovered strong evidence implicating the said juvenile and a 26-year-old man only identified as Innocent in the brutal murder of Nathan Mulenga on April 13, 2025 in George compound.
According to police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the duo was apprehended by a team of officers who were dispatched to George Compound last evening around 20:00 hours, following investigations.
Police officers fanned out across Matero township including George, Lilanda, and Desai Compounds, leaving no stone unturned in search for the suspects.
Authorities managed to apprehend the two prime suspects at a location known as Kachele .
However, the coordinated police operation was not only successful in apprehending the two prime suspects in the murder case but also resulted in the arrest of seven other male suspects between the age of 22 and 35 who were linked in various robbery cases in the areas.
Hamoonga disclosed that the suspects arrested had been found with various tools believed to be used in housebreaking activities.
He identified the suspects as Levy Ngoma, Kennedy Mubu, Botman Chirwa, Tiza Mwale, Elisa Mbale, Robert Ngoma and Steward Daka all of Matero township.
The suspects will now undergo further screening and interrogation as part of the ongoing investigations into the string of robberies linked to them.
Hamoonga further reaffirmed Zambia police’s to fighting crime and bringing perpetrators of criminal activities to justice.
“We also urge members of the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely information that may lead to the apprehension of suspects involved in criminal activities,” added Hamoonga
