Clinical officer runs underground clinic with pilfered supplies

A QUALIFIED clinical officer but cunning bussiness man of Mafinga District in Muchinga province, has been arrested for allegedly operating an unlicensed health establishment using medications stolen from the public hospital where he worked.

For over a year, Joshua Konkosholo played the part of a cunning businessman, stealing from Mafinga District Hospital to fuel his off-the-books pharmacy situated outside his home, in Tendere village.

However, Konkosholo’s illicit operation wasn’t destined for long-term success, as one of the community members decided to tip his hospital supervisor, the medical officer in charge of the hospital, Dr Kasuba Simuyemba.

Acting swiftly, Dr. Simuyemba investigated the allegations and unearthed Konkosholo’s secret clinic leading to his arrest

The alleged pilfering entrepreneur was taken to Mafinga Police station on Tuesday on theft by a public servant charges.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer, Paul Achiume confirmed the incident.

“A search by police in the clinical officer’s residence yielded several medical supplies, presumably stolen from the district hospital, though their total value remains to be assessed,” said Achiume.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations in the matter continue.
