The 37-year-old entertainment powerhouse, already lauded for his quick wit and hilarious stage presence, donned the prestigious green academic gown of the University of Zambia (UNZA) during its commencement ceremony, proving that humor and intellect are far from mutually exclusive.

Shandele’s LLB marks his third academic achievement, a testament to a tireless pursuit of knowledge alongside his demanding comedic career.

His latest achievement, a childhood dream come true, has left fans and colleagues in awe of his remarkable dedication.

Beyond the bright lights of the stage, Shandele has consistently toiled over books and papers, culminating in this latest recognition.

His journey, as he shared with #Kalemba, began with a BSc.Ed, which led him to teach Biology and Chemistry in Livingstone from 2011 to 2016.

He then pursued an MSc in Biochemistry at UNZA, completing it in 2018 and graduating in June 2019.

After a period back in Livingstone, Shandele made a pivotal career shift, resigning from his teaching post in 2020.

A new opportunity arose as a Lecturer of Biochemistry at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University, a role that, crucially, afforded him the time and space to finally enroll in the LLB programme.

Balancing the demands of lecturing, performing comedy, and studying for a law degree is no small feat.

Shandele credits “passion, hard work, and humor” as the powerful forces that propelled him forward.

He even took on additional performances to supplement his income and support his education, showcasing his incredible dedication.

“I’m living proof that dreams can become a reality because my journey has been a rollercoaster ride, filled with twists, turns, and surprising heights, but I remained steadfast in my pursuit of success,” he asserted.

For Shandele, talent alone is not enough.

“By combining my passion for comedy with my dedication to learning, I have been able to achieve success in both fields. Education provides a strong foundation for one’s pursuits and enables one to develop critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills that are essential in any field,” he explained.

His message to young Zambians is clear and powerful: “Pursue an education and strive for improvement in all aspects of life.”

As the “Master of Laughter, Learning,” Ginnethon Shandele is not just entertaining the nation; he’s inspiring it, one degree and one joke at a time.

Accumulating accolades in both the academic and entertainment spheres, Shandele also holds the position of Secretary General of the Comedians Association of Zambia (COAZ) and was honored as the “Best MC” by the Zambia Wedding Industry Awards in 2021.

The comedian is also a gifted chess player, footballer, and self-taught guitarist.
