A MOTHER has been left distraught and confused after she discovered a blood stained underwear of her 10-year-old daughter who later disclosed that she was violated by an older pupil.
In the early hours of yesterday morning, Vostina Phiri aged 35 of Chadiza district began her daily routine of preparing her child’s necessary necessities for school.
As she busied herself with the task that would ensure a smooth start to her child’s day, Phiri eventually found herself in search of her child’s socks when she stumbled upon the stained underwear in her laundry basket.
It is believed that Phiri’s daughter was defiled by Jabess Banda hailing from Kaliza Village, Chadiza district who is a school going pupil but his age is yet to be established.
The incident occurred this very month on unknown dates and time.
Confirming the incident, Eastern province police commanding officer, Robertson Mweemba disclosed that the young victim on her way home from playing with friends, was approached by Banda in a brutal manner.
Mweemba revealed that Banda with shocking brutality forced the minor into a nearby bush, stripped her of her clothing, and violated her without protection and later, the child began crying and bleeding from the trauma she had endured.
Having committed his heinous crime, Banda fled the scene, leaving the minor wounded and traumatised in the bush.
The child, still reeling from the shock and shame of the incident made her way back home but decided to keep the ordeal a secret from everyone.
Mweemba revealed that the victim’s mother only knew of the ordeal yesterday after she discovered a bloodstained pant in her child’s laundry basket.
He said the discovery prompted Phiri to immediately question her child about the blood stains as she nearly ran away until she convinced her to speak.
“After questioning her, the young victim revealed that she was defiled by Banda. Thereafter, a-medical report was then issued, confirming the child’s allegations,” Mweemba said.
“A docket of case was opened but no arrest has been made yet.”
“The defiler is a school going pupil and will soon be brought to book,” Mweemba assured.
