Lord Collins said the British firms are already helping Zambia in economic development especially in the Mining sector, and other key sectors.
“British firms want to help create jobs and boost growth. Last year, over half of Zambia’s copper production came from British companies, this shows how we could deliver sustainable resilient goals, enhancing the power of the private sector,” he said.
Lord Collins was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on President Hakainde Hichilema at State House in Lusaka yesterday.
President Hichilema said Zambia values the partnership it has with Britain and looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties like diplomatic exchanges and economic agreements.
“I welcome the UK’s continued support, they are our partners, especially in the area of Health, very important to us, we did cover a number of issues on continued expansion of our health sector, the partnership has really been beneficial to us,” said the Head of State.
Lord Collins also announced the appointment of Calvin Bailey as UK’s new trade envoy to South Africa.
