THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is confident that the triumphant Zambia Under-20 women’s team will produce the next generation of stars ready to conquer the world.

Zambia beat Mozambique 1-0 to win the 2024 COSAFA women under-20 title last week.

Yesterday, FAZ hosted a welcome luncheon in Lusaka for the triumphant contingent and challenged them to stay disciplined and focused.

During the luncheon, FAZ Women’s Representative, Priscilla Katoba congratulated the players for being crowned COSAFA champions.

Col. Katoba said the players journey to victory was nothing short of inspiring.

“Your journey to this triumph has been nothing short of inspiring. You have brought home the trophy and the pride and joy of millions of Zambians.

“Your dedication, team work and unwavering belief in yourselves have lifted Zambia’s flag high and made history once again,” Col Katoba said.
Against all odds and limited preparations, the Zambian team stood strong.

She said the victory was a clear testament of the players hard work and passion.

“As we honour you today, l want to emphasize that this is the the beginning of your journey.

“Stay focused, disciplined and committed to your growth both on and off the pitch. You are the future stars of Zambian women football, and in you we see the next generation of champions ready to conquer the global stage, like Barbra Banda and Rachel Kundananji,” Col Katoba said.

She also hailed the Zambia U-20 technical bench for their exceptional leadership and guidance.
Col. Katoba said the coaches dedication and strategy was instrumental in the team’s success.
“Your sacrifice and commitment laid the foundation for this victory, and your efforts do not go unnoticed.

“Finally, to our heroins, the young Copper Queens, remember that you are not only champions but also role models to the next generation of your girls in Zambia,” she said.
