THE House of Chiefs has called upon citizens to join hands in praying for President Hakainde Hichilema so that he may continue fulfilling his campaign promises.
Speaking when the Head of State met chiefs in Mansa on Sunday, House of Chiefs chairperson Chief Nkambo of the Lamba people in Masaiti district stated that the country was headed for a bright future under the leadership of President Hichilema.
Chief Nkambo urged his fellow traditional leaders to speak for the President in their chiefdoms and help preach love.
“To my fellow royal highnesses, continue speaking love into our people as it is our role as parents to speak love into our children.”
“Let’s preach love as traditional leaders, we need to help government fulfill their promises. If there is a problem we say it’s our problem, don’t say it’s the President’s problem,” he advised.
Meanwhile, the traditional leaders also revealed that as a way of helping government on the issue of climate change, the house has created a programme aimed at teaching communities on how to adapt to the current climate change situation.
This is the National Climate Change Adaptation Initiative which has seen experts from the ministry of Green Economy and other industry players working together with the chiefs to help spread the message of hope.
“We have been engaging experts to explain the effects of climate change. Last week, we had experts from Green Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and others who spoke on how people can help adapt to climate change, this is our way of helping government because we are partners,” explained the traditional leader.
