Zambia takes to the pitch in Saudi Arabia’s mock World Cup

Zambia is gearing up to participate in Saudi Arabia’s mock World Cup tournament event, featuring students from various countries studying in the kingdom, is part of kingdom’s preparations for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

After the football governing body, FIFA announced Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 World Cup, the kingdom kicked off the celebrations with a colorful opening ceremony, attended by Zambian students studying on scholarship at the prestigious Islamic University of Medina.

The students, donning the country’s colors, proudly represented Zambia in the ceremony, marking the beginning of the exciting student World Cup tournament set to start next month.

Through hosting the World Cup, Saudi Arabia aims to embody its national slogan, “Welcoming the World,” symbolizing a warm welcome to the global community and reflecting the spirit of unity and enthusiasm.

Zambia’s team, comprised of talented students, is ready to take on the challenge.

The team includes; Umar Banda,Yusuf Nkhoma, Zubair Issah Phiri, Musa Sakala, Hussein Malunga and Rajab Phiri.

Others are; Abdulrahman Milanzi, Idris Hashim, Ali Konte, Adam Qassim Hashim and Abdurasheed Daka.

The Zambian students are confident that they will teach their fellow learners and the Arabs a thing or two about football, as they jokingly put it, “We’ll show them why Barbra Banda is the CAF Woman
Footballer of the Year!”
