Hichilema to strengthen ties with Tanzania at Union Day event

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema will be traveling to Tanzania on Friday at the invitation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of that country’s Union Day.

The event celebrates the successful union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar into the United Republic of Tanzania.

According to the acting minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, President Hichilema will engage in bilateral talks with President Hassan during the visit.

The bilateral talks will be aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and building on President Hassan’s previous visit to Zambia in 2023.

Zambia and Tanzania share a longstanding friendship rooted in their joint struggle for Southern Africa’s liberation, collaborating across various sectors

Haimbe said that President Hichilema will return to Zambia promptly after his engagements.
