NO Zambian in their right frame of mind can advocate for sanctions to be imposed on the leadership of their own country, a youthful political observer has charged.

Early this week, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu shocked everyone and everything when he sneaked a letter to US ambassador claiming to represent Our Civic Duty Association (OCIDA) in which he was advocating for President Hakainde and other government officials to be sanctioned for undermining democracy.

The letter caught Archbishop Mpundu’s comrades in OCiDA by surprise saying they were not aware of it.

They said Archbishop Mpundu was being used and had teamed up with Brebner Changala to push selfish agendas using the organisation.

Reacting to the same, Dillon Mayangwa said he was shocked that Archbishop Mpundu could be advocating for sanctions on the leadership of the country’s leadership when he knew very well that it would disadvantage the citizens.

Mayangwa said given the suffering that country’s like Zimbabwe and Cuba had endured as a result of sanctions placed on them, no normal person could want the same to happen to Zambia.

He charged that it was greed and hidden political agendas that were motivating Archbishop Mpundu do engage in what he was doing.

Mayangwa alleged that Archbishop Mpundu was upset with President Hakainde Hichilema because he refused to employ his friends on his recommendation.

Mayangwa said Archbishop Mpundu and his friend Changala had run out of their usefulness as a result they wanted to leave behind a poverty stricken country.

“There is no sane patriotic citizen who can call for sanctions against their own country or citizen as close neighbours to Zimbabwe, we all have witnessed what sanctions have done to Zimbabwe and how it has affected the ordinary Zimbabwean. The suffering people of Zimbabwe are expirencing what our so called elders and statesmen wish for our country. I personally now question the patriotism and nationalism of those old men,” charged Mayangwa.
