Speaking as Guest of honour when she graced the much-publicised 2025 Miss Universe Zambia, the minister of Lands of Natural Resources did hide her disapproval for the Swim suits category.

In that category, participants strut the stage with nothing more than an underwear and a breastholder while their bodies are left for public viewing.

As she got down to delivering her speech, Masebo said as a mother who needed to support a girl child, such attire should not be encouraged.

The minister said girls should not expose their bodies when children and men are watching.

“I was happy with all the segments except for the swim suit segment, I know for you young ones it’s okay, but for us parents, it’s not because we come with children and there are wives who have come with husbands.”

“The other point is, speaking as a parent, I did express my concern to Alice Musukwa which she did appreciate and said next time they will improve. The point is, there are many ways you can show yourself in a swimsuit remember Zambia is a christian nation,” she said.

Masebo said Zambia has strong values, traditional and culture which the nation should be proud of and embrace.

She said wearing a swimsuit does not mean one wears a g-string but has to be decent.

“I could like to pass a view to the organizers because we want to support our girl child as government and as parents we will not encourage such, you have your view and I also have mine, let’s respect each other’s view. I wouldn’t be happy seeing my daughter be openly in public,” she said.

However, she has praised the organizers of the event and said they should keep up with the good works.

“Thank you to the organizers, Zambia has improved, stage management, stage lighting is excellent, the set up, and the young girls are making sure that we are counted as ‘Zambia ku chalo,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kunda Mwamulima who represented Kalulushi has been crowned Miss Universe Zambia 2025.
