MATERO Member of Parliament Miles Sampa yesterday in parliament looked like a cat soaked with water after speaker Nelly Mutti rebuked him to desist from causing confusion in the house, stating that he was not the only one who was grieved following the death of the former Head of State.
Mutti advised Sampa to desist from causing confusion because he was not the only one feeling pain over the death of former president Edgar Lungu.
She stated that she was also in pain at the loss of Lungu as they had a history of being colleagues in the legal corridors, handling cases together.
The speaker said the pain that she is feeling cannot be compared to the pain that Sampa was feeling.
“The late President Lungu is a good friend of mine, we worked together, we were colleagues, we did cases together. So the pain that you feel is not even more than the pain I feel, so let’s not judge who is more injured and who is happy,” she said.
Mutti was speaking in parliament yesterday when addressing members of Parliament.
She urged them to refrain from debating matters related to the funeral of the late former president who died last week, Thursday in South Africa.
Sampa raised a question to the vice president Mutale Nalumango if President Hakainde Hichilema will respect the request of the Lungu family by not showing up to the State funeral as a last wish from former president Lungu before his demise.
The vice president reminded Sampa that there can’t be a State funeral with the President and Sampa’s wrangles with the late over the rulership of the PF party which he later took control of.
Mutti stold Sampa that many people where still grieving and emotionally charged hence the morning period should be respected.
“There is nobody who can be happy following a death, all of us have lost a loved one at one point or another, I don’t know honourable member of Matero whether you have experienced the death before, but I am sure you have, the death of your uncle late President Data.”
“How was the funeral handled, would you like some confusion to happen during the funeral for another person?”
“Desist from that you are a leader,” Mutti said.
Sampa was seen rolling his eyes in shame like a wizard who caught practicing witchcraft in broad daylight.
