THE fertile mothers of Chama District in Eastern Province have contributed eight new year babies to the slow-growing population of Zambia.
Kwenje FM reports that the bundles of joy popped out throughout the Chama District Hospital maternity ward where Kamphemba Ward Councillor Saphira Mashonga was at hand to welcome them with hampers.
Expecting mothers whose children did not arrive in time to be considered New Year’s day arrivals also received the hampers.
Addressing the mothers after the donation, the Councillor encouraged them to raise their children religiously and mould them into responsible citizens.
