THE six hour long absence of electricity that Zesco is presiding over will not only make homes darker and switch off electric appliances, it will also dry the water taps.

This has caused worry on
Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha who says is in talks with Zesco to find measures on how power cuts can stop affecting water supply in some areas of the country.
Lately, there have been widespread complaints that the absence of electricity is affecting the availability of water.
“ZESCO needs to provide a stand-alone supply dedicated to water and in order to reduce on the impact that people accessing water face during power cuts,” Mposha said.
“With the load-shedding that is yet to start, it is important that people are able to access water smoothly.”
The minister further said discussions with Zesco have reached an “advanced stage”
