It took only two days since their escape on Monday for the police to catch up with the two who were in custody on murder charges.

However 17 more are still breathing the fresh air, while moving in incognito with the cops on their tail.

The suspects identified as Promise Bwalya and Mike Chola were re-captured during an intelligence-led operation conducted on May 20, 2025 at around 22:00 hours in Kasongo Village of Mansa District yesterday.

This was confirmed by police assistant public relations officer, Godfrey Chilabi.

Two days ago, replicating the prison break cast the two along with their cell mates shocked the sense out of police officers after they slipped through their hands between 02:00 hours and 02:50 hours, with the breakout going undetected until a routine security check revealed their disappearance.

Police officers discovered that the padlocks were tampered with and were lying on the ground despite the fact that they were still working.

Authorities asserted that all 19 suspects were facing serious charges ranging from murder, aggravated robbery, human trafficking, and drug related offences to theft and forgery.

This raised eyebrows even among society members who raised concern on the security of police stations because of rising escape cases.

Chilabi assured members of the public that a manhunt for the other 17 suspects still at large is actively underway.

He appealed to members of the public, requesting for assistance in any form that could help bring these individuals into custody again.
