A DRAMATIC scene unfolded in the Choma Local Court as a 22-year-old housewife’s secret came to light.

Rosemary Mazala, reportedly married to a teacher, Rectenant Mweetwa, stunned everyone by bringing another man, Rascal Mwanandima, to her parents’ house for introductions.

According to Byta FM Mweetwa, 28, hailing from Choma’s Mandala Chiefdom, who became furious over the betrayal, sued Mwanandima an SDA deacon for tasting the honey in his young wife’s beehive twice.

Mweetwa argued that he had a legal marriage with Mazala and presented documents as proof and demanded for K20,000 compensation.

He told the court that his wife, Rosemary Mazala, had asked for permission to visit her mother in Kamunza township but to the teacher’s dismay, he was taught a lesson that lasts without memorising or studying after discovering that the main intention for the visit was to introduce her new lover to her parents.

Mazala’s parents, however, contradicted Mweetwa’s claims. They insisted that a full bride price had never been paid, making way for Mwanandima’s introduction.

Giving their account, mother to the lady, Ireen Siankondo and the uncle, Jack Ngoma, explained that the reason they welcomed another man for their daughter’s hand in marriage was because Mweetwa did not complete the bride price.

Mwanandima, a church deacon, defended himself by stating that Mazala had deceived him about her marital status.

He said Mazala lied to him that she was not in a legal marriage but just eloped with Mweetwa.

The defendant added that he was charged a bride price of K5, 500 by the lady’s parents.

The court, through magistrate Stanley Hankanga dismissed Mweetwa’s compensation claim due to Mazala’s lie about her marital status to Mwanandima.
