Mulenga eyes fuel pipeline to recharge Zampalm and manganese industries

COMMERCE and Trade Minister Chipoka Mulenga has called for the TAZAMA Pipeline’s Kalonje Pump Station to shift gears from simply moving fuel to sparking industrial revival in Muchinga Province.

Touring the station, Mulenga urged TAZAMA to align its operations with the government’s agenda of reigniting local industries, especially the Zampalm and manganese sectors, which he said have the potential to transform the regional economy.

He explained that an active Zampalm industry and a growing manganese processing chain would naturally boost demand for refined petroleum products, giving the pump station more than just fuel to deliver, but economic energy to power jobs and exports.

“This visit is part of our broader mission to understand the operational status of key infrastructure and identify opportunities for growth and development,” Mulenga said.

“We are committed to working with stakeholders to unlock the potential of our industries and drive economic growth.”

Station Supervisor Healey Mainza welcomed the Minister’s engagement and said the team remained committed to supporting local development through efficient fuel services.
