ZAMBIA and Botswana have signed 10 agreements to strengthen their cooperation in various sectors, including trade, mining, agriculture, and transportation.

These aim to boost economic growth, create jobs, and benefit the people of both countries.

The agreements also focus on improving the movement of goods and services across borders and optimizing the use of the Kazungula Bridge.

Additionally, they explore the possibility of building a railway line for further regional trade expansion.

President Hakainde Hichilema said these agreements aim to foster enhanced collaboration in mining and mineral value addition, as well as collaboration in other key sectors like tourism and agriculture.

“This development promises more cost-effective and reliable access to maritime trade routes, enhancing trade between our countries, stimulating economic growth, creating jobs, and ultimately benefiting our people,” shared President Hichilema.

Meanwhile, the two heads of state called for the optimalisation of the Kazungula bridge asset by ensuring uniformity and the redevelopment of the areas near Kazungula bridge.

They agreed that the construction of a railway line would enhance trade beyond the two countries.

The ten signed MoUs include; the agreement to establish the Bi-National Commission, the MoU on political consultations , MoU on cooperation in the field of health and MoUs on agriculture and livestock.
