The FAZ president Keith Mweemba has assured staff at Football House that no one will lose their job or be victimised under his leadership, as he moves to establish a new era of democratic and inclusive governance in Zambian football.

In his first official address at the Football House earlier today, Mweemba said his leadership will be anchored on the rule of law and respect for human rights, rather than fear and intimidation.

He noted that some employees had been living in anxiety following the recent change in administration, but was quick to assure them that his team did not come into office to settle scores.

“We have not come here to victimise anybody. Zambia is a country of laws and we have always preached that we want to lead a democratic system. The rule of law is the cornerstone of justice,” Mweemba said.

The FAZ boss revealed that his priority would be to boost staff morale by looking into conditions of service and exploring long-term benefits such as housing, beyond the issue of salaries.

Meanwhile, Mweemba also used the opportunity to officially announce that he had stepped down as Maestro United Zambia (MUZA) FC president.

He said internal processes were already underway to ensure a smooth handover at the club.

Mweemba added that being FAZ president, he belongs to the football family at large and will work to unite the sport at every level.
