SAUDI-BASED Chipolopolo star Fashion Sakala has scored a massive goal off the pitch after pumping K1.6 million into this year’s Fashion Sakala Provincial Cup.

The town of Chipata came to a complete standstill yesterday as thousands of football lovers packed David Kaunda Stadium to witness the grand final of the 2025 Fashion Sakala Provincial Cup, a tournament that has gripped Eastern Province with excitement and talent from all corners.
Graced by paramount chief Mpezeni IV, the electric final saw Nyimba Council FC edge past Mikalile FC with a 2–1 victory, claiming bragging rights and lifting the prestigious trophy in front of a roaring crowd of over 35,000 fans.
Fashion Sakala, who has risen from the dusty grounds of Chipata to the elite stadiums of Saudi Arabia, said giving back to the community that raised him was not just an act of charity, but a calling.
“What an unforgettable day at the Fashion Sakala Provincial Cup Final! I’m filled with gratitude as I reflect on this powerful moment,” the Al-Fayha striker posted on his Facebook page.
In his message, Sakala thanked the traditional leaders and provincial delegates for showing up in support, and paid tribute to the young players whose energy and discipline stole the show.
The tournament attracted teams from all corners of Eastern Province, with scouts and coaches watching keenly from the stands, hoping to spot the next national treasure.
Meanwhile, the Chipolopolo goal-machine also gifted wheelchairs and blankets, to over 100 vulnerable persons with disability turning the tournament into an emotional mix of sport and humanity.
