SESHEKE member of parliament Romeo Kang’ombe has advised Zambians to learn from President Hakainde Hichilema’s humbleness and discipline despite being a millionaire at a young age.
Kang’ombe said having so much wealth as a young man, Hichilema could have chosen a lavish lifestyle and driven expensive cars, but he chose a humble path.
“We have a lot to learn about how a young millionaire remained committed to only one woman.”
“Growing up in a society where polygamy is normal, how did Hichilema, with so much wealth, resist the temptations of getting another wife?” he asked.
Kang’ombe said it is because of discipline.
“These are valuable lessons that the people of Zambia are privileged to learn from.”
“Another aspect is how President Hakainde Hichilema raised his children.”
He said raising disciplined children when you have so much money is very difficult, but even to date, the country barely hears about President Hichilema’s children.
“In the past, we have seen presidents’ children becoming mini-presidents.We have seen children owning 90 vehicles and others grabbing reserved forestry and making it their personal land.”
“But just like Kenneth Kaunda’s and Levy Mwanawasa’s children, HH’s have remained disciplined,” he said.
Kang’ombe commended HH for raising his children in a disciplined manner.
“This is very commendable. In life, where we have seen so many children turning out to be junkies, we have a lot to learn about how a leader of this country has managed to raise his children,” he said.
He said whenever God brings people into your life, He wants you to learn something.
“Growing up, I remember working as a garden boy for Valden Findlay. This was not a coincidence, but God wanted me to learn a few principles of making and sustaining wealth.”
“From being a garden boy, today I own a multinational company operating in Zambia, Namibia, and Congo. In the African setup, we usually despise wealthy people and view them as ritualists and satanists instead of learning from them,” noted Kang’ombe.
He has since advised Zambians to learn from President Hichilema, his humbleness and discipline.
