THE United Church of Zambia (UCZ) has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for his effective leadership throughout the period of national mourning, highlighting his role in preserving stability in Zambia during this delicate time.
UCZ Synod Bishop Festus Chulu stated that President Hichilema’s resolve to maintain calm and order amid this time of grief is a clear indication of his exceptional abilities as a leader and his commitment to the welfare of the country.
Bishop Chulu stated that in this time of sadness, it is crucial for everyone to focus on coming together as a nation rather than allowing differences to divide all apart.
He was speaking when he led a delegation of the UCZ to pay a courtesy call to President Hichilema at state house this morning.
“This is not a time for division but a moment to promote discourse, reinstate unity and reaffirm Zambia’s reputation as a nation founded upon principles of peace, love, justice and reconciliation,” he said.
“Let us honor the memory of our late president Edgar Lungu by upholding these values and working towards a stronger, more united nation.”
Bishop Chulu highlighted the importance of unity and peace, urging all Zambians to embrace these values and work together to strengthen the nation’s legacy of harmony.
He vowed to support government in their efforts to uphold and reinforce the culture of peace that Zambia has been known for.
“We recognise that peace is Zambia’s greatest asset, and we call on all Zambians to cherish this treasure and promote peace with humility, courage, and hope. Together with the government, we will strive to reinforce the culture of peace that Zambia has historically embodied,” he said.
Bishop Chulu extended his sincere prayers and encouragement to President Hichilema as he navigates this challenging time.
The Bishop reiterated the church’s commitment to collaborate with the government in deepening the culture of peace that has long been a cornerstone of Zambia’s national identity.
He further offered a prayerful blessing upon President Hichilema, asking God to impart wisdom, strength, and grace as he leads Zambia through this difficult time.
“May God grant you wisdom, strength and grace to govern justly, lead boldly, and unite our nation. May God sustain you in your role as president and guide you in upholding the values that define our country,” he added.
