FORMER Socialist Party (SP) mobilisation secretary and 2026 presidential aspirant Kelvin Kaunda says the SP leader Fred M’membe was influenced by rumors and acted before verifying the facts when he removed him from the party.
Earlier this month, Kaunda was dropped from his position as Mobilisation Secretary and removed from the SP Politburo of which M’membe said the decision was made after careful consideration of the current happenings and consultation with other Politburo members.
The removal followed press briefing Kaunda held, which was reported that he announced his intentions to replace the SP leadership.
Speaking when he featured on Showstar’s house, he said the story that led to his dismissal was based on people trying to push a narrative against him.
“So there was nothing to misunderstand in the first place because the record is out there, the script I was reading from is out there and in public domain,” Kaunda said.
He revealed that immediately after the press briefing, M’membe did try to contact him.
However, communication problems, including poor network coverage prevented them from having a proper conversation.
By the time Kaunda could speak to M’membe, he had already been dropped from his position.
Kaunda further accused M’membe of being suspicious and acted on rumors before verifying the facts.
