Elias Munshya’s tenure comes to an end

THE diplomatic mission of Elias Munshya as Zambia’s high commissioner to Australia and new Zealand has come to end

In a farewell message addressed to Zambian diaspora leaders across Australia and New Zealand, Munshya described his stay in the office as a rare opportunity that enabled him actively contribute to strengthening cultural ties and advancing Zambia’s image abroad.

“Serving as Zambia’s High Commissioner over the past three years has been one of the greatest honours of my life. It was made richer by your partnership, dedication, and unwavering love for our country,” he said.

He has noted the strong standing of Zambians living abroad, saying a number of them demonstrated compassion in times of difficulties by remaining committed and uplifting one another, adding that their contributions of skills and resources contribute and strengthen Zambia’s social and economic growth.

“Through your associations, churches, and community projects, you have shown that being Zambian transcends geography,” stated Munshya.

Meanwhile, Munshya’s deputy, Anna Lupenga has been appointed as acting high commissioner.

He has expressed confidence that she will continually maintain delivery of services as expected.

“I am deeply grateful to his excellency President Hakainde Hichilema for his trust and guidance, to my wife and family for their love and support, and to the staff of the High Commission whose teamwork and dedication have made this mission thrive,” he said.

Munshya has advised the leaders running similar offices to continue representing Zambia with pride.

“I encourage you to stay united, continue building bridges, and keep Zambia’s flag flying high across Australia and New Zealand,” stated the commissioner.
