A SINAZONGWE woman is most likely living in regret after allowing into her life, a man that has just taken away the innocence of her daughter in order to fulfil his sexual urge.
The man, whose identity has been withheld is believed to have been caught in the act by his wife as he sexually abused his 10-year-old stepdaughter.
This incident happened on Tuesday around 17:00 hours.
It is reported that the mother left her child in the hands of the suspect in order to deliver money to a neighbour.
According to the police report, the mother did not spend a lot of time on her errand only for her eyes to see the abominable acts of the child’s stepfather on top of the minor.
Southern Province police deputy commanding officer Moono Namalongo said the victim’s mother acted swiftly upon discovering the horrific abuse inflicted by her husband on their young daughter.
Moono stated that the mother courageously intervened and pulled her husband away from the victim, who then fled the scene.
“Upon realising the extent of the abuse inflicted on her daughter, the mother informed her own mother about the incident.”
“While seeking comfort and support at her mother’s residence, the stepfather arrived, in a desperate attempt to mitigate the consequences of his actions, and offered K150 to facilitate hospital transport, requesting that the child be taken for medical attention,” Moono said.
He added that after being presented with a K150, the survivor was taken to Sinazeze Mini Hospital for examination and treatment.
“A medical report form was issued and the initial findings indicated that the juvenile had indeed been subjected to defilement,” Moono shared.
The grandmother of the survivor is the person who reported the matter to the police after the incident.
Moono said no arrest has been made yet but efforts to apprehend the suspect have been intensified.
