According to Kabwata Member of Parliament Andrew Tayengwa, the elderly woman collapsed and died of shock upon receiving the news of her granddaughter, Sibeso Akalilwa’s brutal killing.

35 year old Sibeso was attacked and killed during a robbery at Rubis Filling Station in Hellen Kaunda where she was working a night shift last week.

She sustained fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital.

Her colleague, Mapalo Mwelwa, also suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

Eight people have so far been arrested in connection with the brutal murder.

Sibeso’s family has now been forced to hold two funerals simultaneously, in Sikanze, the same location where Sibeso’s funeral was held just days earlier.

Tayengwa, who visited the family yesterday, through the UPND Kabwata Constituency team, extended support by donating food supplies and pledging assistance towards the purchase of a coffin for the late grandmother.

“We share in the pain this family is going through. It is our duty, in such trying moments, to stand in solidarity with those mourning and offer whatever support we can,” stated Tayengwa.
