A 42 year old man from Hamalangwe Village in Chief Choongo’s area, Monze District, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 12 year old stepdaughter, who is mentally ill.

According to Southern Province police commissioner Auxensio Daka, the incident happened on July 4, 2025, after the suspect returned home alone from a nearby village where he had gone to watch television with his wife, the child’s mother.
He allegedly found the girl alone and took advantage of her condition to sexually abuse her.
Later that night, when the mother returned and took her daughter to the toilet, the child cried in pain and said she was hurting in her private parts.
That’s when she bravely named her stepfather as the one who had hurt her.
The case was reported to Monze Police Station the next day and a medical examination confirmed the child had sustained injuries.
The suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody awaiting court appearance.
