Menyani Mwanza was not a criminal gunned down by police, he died naturally – Family

A FAMILY of Kenny Menyani Mwanza says their son has been wrongly dragged into the deadly Chibolya shooting incident that left five criminals dead on Thursday.

Following widespread reports and social media claims linking the deceased to the group of criminals shot by police in Chibolya, the family said Kenny had nothing to do with the incident and was never involved in any criminal activities.

The family said Kenny died of natural causes on Wednesday, a day before the fatal shooting of the five criminals in Lusaka’s Chibolya compound.

Kenny’s aunt Cara Moyo, the family spokesperson confirmed that Kenny actually died a day before the shooting incident.

According to the family, Kenny passed away on Wednesday morning while on his way to Mutendere Clinic, long before the confrontation between police and criminals in Chibolya took place.

The family has since expressed deep pain over the information circulating on various platforms, linking their son to criminal activities and even labeling him as part of the gang.

“Kindly be warned that our son was not among those that were shot dead. He died on Wednesday morning on his way to the clinic, a day before the incident. He was never involved in any unlawful activity,” the family said.

The aunt further revealed that Kenny had been battling mental illness for some time, and the nickname “Commander” that some people are using to link him to criminal groups was merely something people called him because of his condition, not because he was part of any gang.

“He was just being called commander, not ‘Commander Z’ as being claimed,” she clarified.

The family also disclosed that Kenny was laid to rest in Chongwe and have since urged the public to respect his memory and allow him to rest in peace.
