A MAN tired of seeing ‘ghosts’ trying to kill him in Eastern Province could not take it any more and has resorted to taking his life instead.
Ackim Phiri 65, of Chiluzu Village,Chief Nyamphande, Lusangazi District, has been claiming for the last 5 months of being chased and hunted people only seen through his eyes, which led him to run around in fear.
Eastern province commanding officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed Phiri’s death occurred between March 25 to 26.
Mweemba said Ackim was last seen on Wednesday around 08:00hrs by his wife Esnart Daka 55, who informed her husband’s brother after noticing that her husband did not return home.
After a thorough search, Ackim was found hanging on a tree in the bush about a kilometre away from the village.
Mweemba said that Police visited the scene and found the body hanging to a tree with a fibre rope tied around his neck.
“Upon physical inspection, the body had semen discharge from the private part and no physical injuries,” Mweemba disclosed.
Police suspect no foul play and relatives have been advised to bury and mark the grave for possible exhumation incase of postmortem examination results.
