Lukusuzi learners, teachers getting new CDF classroom block

LUKUSUZI Primary School in Mwanya Chiefdom, Lumezi District, is finally breathing a sigh of relief as government, through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), has pumped over K1.1 million into the construction of a modern 1×3 classroom block.

Previously, the valley part of Lumezi had been seen as a neglected area, with pupils at Lukusuzi Primary School learning in a dilapidated building while others endured lessons under a tree due to lack of space.

Now, change is the new chorus that the community doesn’t mind singing on repeat as construction works currently stand at 40 percent.

According to locals authorities the new block is expected to transform the learning environment for both learners and teachers.

Zumale General Dealers has been awarded the contract to deliver the infrastructure at a cost of K1,145,149.64, and hopes are high that once completed, the facility will give children the dignity of learning inside proper classrooms.

Acting Headteacher Clement Nyoni could not hide his joy, describing the project as an answered prayer for the school community.

“We have a challenge in terms of infrastructure because we don’t have enough classroom space to accommodate all learners, that is why sometimes we learn under a tree,” said Nyoni.

Nyoni further expressed gratitude for the desks that will accompany the new block and called on government to extend similar developments to other rural schools that still struggle with inadequate learning spaces.
