LIKE the faithful breeze that whispers through the harshest storms, the Zambia Air Power Ladies stand tall as the calm counterparts of their husbands, their gentle spirits a harmonious complement to the might of military service.
With words that ripple like waves of compassion, these strong yet tender women create a complex narrative of love that surrounds their husband’s gallant hearts, a testament to the unwavering spirit of devotion that empowers both the heart of the home and that of the nation.
According to Air Power Ladies Patron Nicolynn Nyoni, military wives are the ‘soft side of their husbands,’ offering them gentle support and empathy, which complements the strength and courage needed for their military duties.
Nyoni emphasised that while their husbands may appear hardened by the rigors of duty, their wives are the tender balm that soothes their hearts and minds, providing a sense of emotional nourishment that sustains them even in the most challenging circumstances.
Nyoni shared a candid insight into the complex relationship between military wives and their husbands, acknowledging that even they can be intimidated by the uniform.
She explained that the role as wives is to provide unwavering emotional and social support to their men, ensuring that their well-being, that of their families, and the wider community remains a top priority.
“By nurturing our husbands’ hearts and minds, we help them to maintain the fortitude needed to fulfill their demanding duties with courage and honor,” she stated.
She pledged that the women would support the welfare of military personnel throughout their service, no matter where they were stationed.
Nyoni noted that the Power Ladies are committed to supporting initiatives that promote health, education, entrepreneurship and empowerment of women and girls.
“Additionally, we seek to safeguard and defend the rights of women and girls, ensuring they can flourish free from discrimination and abuse,” she added.
Nyoni made these remarks in Lufwanyama District, during the donation of assorted medical equipments to St. Mary’s Mission hospital.
