THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has warned against paying bribes for employment after nabbing a secondary school teacher for soliciting K90,000 to hook up a victim’s sister with a job under the Ministry of Education.
In a statement issued by ACC acting head of corporate communications Chilufya Chisanga identified the suspect as 30 year old Charles Mubita, of Kamwala South in Lusaka.
Mubita, a teacher at Robert Dean Secondary School, is alleged to have solicited K90,000 from the complainant who has not been identified, between June 1 and 15 2026, with the promise of securing a job for the complainant’s sister within the Ministry of Education.
Chisanga said Investigations revealed that within the timeframe stated, he allegedly received K50,000 and later demanded an additional K40,000.
She further said that ACC acted on information received on June 12, 2026 and the Commission conducted an operation during which the suspect received K5,000 as part payment of the K40,000, leading to his arrest.
“We acted on the information we received from on 22th June and we conducted an operation,” she said.
Chisanga added the suspect has been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
The Commission has cautioned members of the public against paying bribes for employment opportunities and warned individuals against exploiting job seekers by soliciting payments under the pretext of facilitating recruitment.
” The public members should not pay bribes for employment opportunities,” said Chisanga.
