31 years since KK11 perished

YESTERDAY marked 31 years since the Gabon Air Disaster which claimed the lives of the KK11 team occurred.

The Football fraternity commemorated the 31st memorial with the bereaved families, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and other notable citizens.

Speaking at heroes acre, the final resting place for the footballers, president Andrew Kamanga assured the families of continued support as they contributed massively.

“It is always our desire to draw from their example of paying the ultimate sacrifice in the service to our nation,” stated Kamanga.

Late FAZ chairperson Micheal Mwape’s widow Peggy Mwape who described her late husband as loving and caring.

She believed that her husband would have excelled exceedingly in football had he not perished.

“My husband would have gone very far in football if it wasn’t for perishing,” said Mwape.

She urged football administrators in the country to prioritise unity for the advancement of the sport.
