VICE President Mutale Nalumango has encouraged the aspiring 2025 Miss Universe Zambia to preserve and promote Zambia’s unique cultural heritage.

Nalumango urged the contestants to remember that they are ambassadors of our nation as they eye the crown.

Speaking When she addressed the Miss Universe Zambia contestants at her office, the veep stressed the need to embrace the Zambian heritage, showcase its vibrant cultural traditions to let the world see the beauty and diversity of the country.

Nalumango reiterated the essential role that the contestants play in spearheading economic development, while serving as powerful ambassadors of Zambia’s cultural heritage on the international stage.

“You hold a unique position in Zambia’s economic growth and development,” the Vice President said.

“You are the embodiment of Zambia’s potential and you wield the influence to attract visitors and establish cross-cultural connections however, your participation in Miss Universe Zambia gives you the unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on our nation’s rich traditions, values and principles,” Nalumango affirmed.

“Your participation also provides an invaluable platform to attract tourists, foster cultural exchanges and illuminate Zambia’s distinct cultural identity for the world.”

She encouraged them to use the platform available to them to extol the virtues of the country.

“You are responsible for showcasing Zambia’s diverse and breathtaking attractions from its wildlife, to its natural beauty, to its warm and welcoming hospitality. You are the face of Zambia.”

The vice president implored the contestants to remain true to themselves, prioritising personal values over material gain.

Nalumango further reminded the contestants that their beauty is unique and should never be undermined by the outcome of the competition, emphasising the intrinsic beauty and worth of each individual.

“Winning or losing does not define your beauty because you are all beautiful and unique, fearfully and wonderfully made. Your worth and beauty are not determined by the outcome of this pageant but rather by the confidence and beauty that radiates from within you so embrace your unique qualities and be proud of who you are,” she added.

“Returning home without the crown does not mean you are inferior, you should in fact use this experience as an opportunity to become even stronger, more resilient and more determined to achieve your goals.”
