FALSE claims of vanishing manhoods which have recently sparked panic and deadly violence in Chingola and Kalumbila have now landed in the nation’s capital, Lusaka.
Kabwata Police Station is holding a 25-year old gentleman who despite having all his reproductive organs safe and intact in their place, accused another man of stealing them.
According to sources familiar with the incident, as Kabwata Market traders went around their business in the afternoon of yesterday, Isaac Suleman let out the mother of all screams that rang loud, claiming his ‘copper cathodes’ had vanished after being stolen by one Goodson Kalubila.
The bizarre accusation quickly drew attention from traders and their customers, raising fears of mob action before officers from Kabwata Police Station rushed to the scene.
Before taking any action, the curious officers moved to verify the claims of the stolen manhood and upon inspection, the cops were shocked to discover Suleman’s long and flacid organ of urination comfortably coiled in his Kamwala boxer.
He was intact, nothing was missing.
Sources told Kalemba that when questioned, Suleman insisted that although his manhood was physically present, he felt as though it had disappeared after being touched by the 35-year old Kalubila.
Suleman is now in detention and faces a charge of publishing false information with intent to cause alarm, while the suspected “manhood thief,” who had reportedly gone to the market in search of work as a barber, was cleared and released.
The incident comes barely a fortnight after a similar accusation in North-Western Province ended an innocent life of a 46-year-old woman, Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe who was accused of stealing a man’s manhood.
Police later revealed that the accuser in that case also had his private parts intact, despite triggering the deadly violence.
The shocking incident drew condemnation from President Hakainde Hichilema, who warned against mob violence fueled by misinformation.
Meanwhile, two weeks ago, another incident was reported in Chingola where a 61-year-old man was beaten and accused of making men’s private parts disappear after allegedly tapping them on the shoulder.
However, police investigations later confirmed that all the complainants had their weapons of mass reproduction still intact.
Police have continued to strongly condemn the act of mob justice and have warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
