A 24 YEAR-OLD Mulungushi University student reported missing over a month ago has been found in an uncompleted building in Ndola, lifeless and in a decomposed state.
The deceased, Mitch Mulenga was last seen alive on January 27, 2026 when he left home for the bank to deposit school fees.
According to the police, Mulenga’s stepmother Annie Mwelwa, reported the matter to the police after he failed to return home as noon gave way to the evening.
On February 13, 2026 Mulenga’s family offered a reward of K10,000 to any person with information leading to the student’s whereabouts.
However, the search ended in tragedy when Mulenga’s body was discovered in an unfinished building behind Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Hillcrest area.
Confirming the incident to #Kalemba in a statement, Copperbelt Province police Commanding Officer, Mwala Yuyi, said the body was discovered a Ndola man on March 12, 2026 around 15:30 hours.
Yuyi said police officers rushed to the scene and found the body laying on the ground, with the head on the left side in a skeletal state.
He said a black bag containing a National Registration Card, mobile cellphone and school documents belonging to Mitch Mutale Mulenga was also found at the scene, hence, the identification of the remains.
Yuyi said that, police also found a rope tied to the roofing planks of the unfinished building which is suspected to have been used in the incident.
” Results of a postmortem examination that was conducted at the scene, indicate that the remains appeared normal. Even after examining the neck vertebrae and the skull, the bones were intact with no damage.”
“There was no damage to the other parts of the body as well. The deceased person died as a result of suspected suicide,” Yuyi said.
He further confirmed that the remains of the deceased have been handed over to the family for burial.
