The Luwingu Town Council has categorically denied any involvement, describing the notices as false, misleading and fraudulent.

Several schools were allegedly listed as offering teaching positions, including Luwingu Day Secondary, Tungati Day Secondary, Chambord, Kasunga, Kaseya, Mumba, Makondo and Njoko Primary Schools.

Council public relations officer Tasila Banda clarified that the council’s mandate is strictly limited to municipal services like waste collection, road repairs and sensitisation, and not hiring teachers.

“The general public must treat such notices as false and misleading because it does not in any way represent us at Luwingu Town Council. At no point, have we ever issued such public notices and the institution has not been involved in any recruitment of teachers,” clarified Banda.

“We further wish to clarify that the Luwingu Town Council is a corporate body established by the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019, under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, whose mandate is to deliver services such as waste collection, maintenance of roads and drainages, bridges, markets and providing sanitation, among others.”

She noted that authorities, including the Zambia Police Service and ZICTA have launched investigations to uncover the culprits behind the misleading notices.

“Media houses spreading the adverts must take them down immediately or face legal consequences,” she added.

“The public must not be fooled, we are not recruiting teachers. The public must verify information with verified channels or risk being scammed.”
