Through the Peter Kapala foundation, the minister provided fish feed valued at K16,000 to Chichetekelo cooperative in Chifunabuli district.

The donation will sustain over 24,000 fish, offering a vital boost to local aquaculture and supporting household incomes for cooperative members.

The feed would be crucial in sustaining their fish farming project, which plays a central role in the community’s economic and nutritional wellbeing.

Kapala encouraged other cooperatives to leverage government programs under his Ministry to expand operations and contribute to the country’s blue economy, highlighting the role of small-scale fisheries in promoting self-reliance and economic resilience.

“Our goal is to empower communities to create sustainable livelihoods, and initiatives like this are part of that vision,” Kapala said.

In another outreach activity, Kapala visited Lubwe Mission Hospital, delivering gifts to children born during the independence period and bringing cheer to families and hospital staff.

He also reviewed the construction progress of a new male wing, praising the development, and reiterated government’s commitment to improving rural healthcare infrastructure:

“Independence is more than a celebration; it is an opportunity to serve communities and enhance the wellbeing of every citizen,” he remarked.
