Mweetwa declared that since their 2021 victory, leadership under the new dawn has been four years of unprecedented progress, cementing the nation’s freedom and laying the foundation for an even brighter future.
Yesterday marked a significant milestone for the government of Zambia, as it celebrated four years since their administration was voted into leadership of the country.
Speaking at a briefing yesterday, Mweetwa designated August 12 as ‘Zambian’s Freedom Day,’ attributing the transformation of the country’s monumental election that took place on that date.
Mweetwa highlighted the multitude of achievements the UPND government had brought to the Zambian people in its four years of power.
“Four years of UPND rule has given us four years of free education, four years of mealie meal allowances for students, four years of rule of law, an end to caderism, violence, and intimidation against public servants,” Mweetwa stated.
He stated that government has delivered on its promise of debt restructuring which has led to the provision of free education, the Cash for Work programme, increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation and nationwide infrastructure development.
Mweetwa acknowledged that the government before President Hakainde Hichilema was not only crippled with debt but struggling to regain its footing in the global stage.
“President Hichilema has navigated these challenges with a steady hand, leading us to our current position of strength and progress,” he said.
“We look forward to the future, to 2026 and beyond, knowing that we are in capable and wise hands.”
