Copper Queens’ eyes focused on nothing else but the trophy – Kundananji

COPPER Queens striker Racheal Kundananji has sent a strong warning to all teams remaining at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON), declaring that Zambia is not in Morocco to participate, but to win.

Speaking at a press conference after helping Zambia secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DR Congo and a place in the quarterfinals, Kundananji said the team has only one clear mission of lifting the trophy.

“We will never look behind, we will never look on the side. We are just looking at that trophy, that’s it,” Kundananji said.

The Bay FC forward was once again in top form, earning her second Woman of the Match award in the competition.

Her goal proved to be the difference in a tightly contested match that saw the Copper Queens dig deep for the three points.

She revealed that going into the match, she felt physically tired but was determined to give her best for the team.

“Well, I don’t know how I can say this, you know. I wasn’t expecting today because I felt so fatigued, so tired, but I kept on pushing,” she told journalists.

Zambia converted early in the match with Kundananji finding the back of the net in the 13 minute from a free kick and tallied with the same scoreline until the final whistle.

Despite finishing second in their group, the team remains confident and focused.
