The strong stance came as President Hakainde Hichilema received a special message from Sudanese President Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, delivered by Vice President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Malik Agar Eyre.
“Zambia remains deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict in Sudan and stands in full solidarity with its people, many of whom have been displaced, injured, or tragically lost their lives,” the President wrote on his Facebook page.
“We support all efforts aimed at the restoration of peace, security, and constitutional order in Sudan. Zambia remains committed to working in close collaboration with regional and international partners, including ECOWAS, the East African Community (EAC), SADC, the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN), to promote a peaceful resolution to the crisis.”
President Hichilema highlighted the principle that instability anywhere is instability everywhere, expressing Zambia’s determination to advocate for a swift, peaceful, and inclusive resolution to the situation in Sudan.
